all my life i’ve wished for these days. the mama moments. when we found out we were expecting #2, the first thing everyone starts asking you is if you’re hoping for a boy or a girl. jake and I have always just truthfully answer that question with “just praying of ra happy + healthy baby!” but the last few days before our ultrasound I couldn’t help but dream + wonder how our life was about to change. football practice and dump trucks? tea parties and doll houses 4-liiife?
the night before we found out, my sister came over after everyone was asleep and we sat crosslegged on my kitchen counter, eating ice cream cake from the box with forks, taking way too fast and changing subjects even faster. as i hugged her goodbye, it hit me how special and crucial and important sisters re and how different my life would have been without her. sister’s come in all kinds of ways, some by blood and others through intentionality and real relationships. either way, they’re life-giving and i couldn’t think of a better gift to give my daughter than her new sister and we are so excited to welcome another baby girl wakeman into our lives this fall.
the magic in these photos is the incredible work of my sweet friend Moch Snyder. she is one of the sweetest, kindest, most genuine and talented women i have ever had the pleasure of knowing and her heart is rooted in capturing the most special of moments. i can’t even tell you how special these photos are to my heart + i will be so thankful for her and these images all all all of my days.
